The Tagua Nut
The tagua nut is the signature material of our ethical jewellery
Also known as vegetable ivory, tagua seeds are the product of the tagua palm, which grows in the northwest areas of South America. When they dry, they become remarkably hard — with a colour and texture that closely resembles ivory, making them a beautiful and ethical alternative.
Why tagua nut?
- The seeds fall naturally from the palm once ripe, so no harm is done to the tree or the surrounding forest
- Choosing tagua means choosing a material that actively supports the preservation of South American rainforests
- Every piece helps sustain local economies and the skilled microenterprises that have worked with this material for generations
- It is 100% natural, biodegradable, and lightweight — jewellery that is as kind to the planet as it is beautiful to wear
How we work
- Our pieces are handcrafted by artisans who work in healthy conditions and are paid fair wages — always
- We use only natural and edible dyes, so every colour you see comes from nature itself
- Colours are fixed using a simple mix of lemons and salt — no harsh chemicals involved
- Any remaining dye is discharged safely, leaving no harmful trace behind
